6 Year Old Adopted Child Lindsey Stevens of San Mateo is "Artist" for Independent Adoption Center's Annual Holiday Card
Pleasant Hill, CA (PRWeb) December 11, 2006 -- It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Certainly, this year's Holiday card sent to friends of the Independent Adoption Center (www.adoptionhelp.org) is a case in point. The "artist" is six year old Lindsey Stevens of San Mateo, one of over 4,000 successful adoptions facilitated by the nationally-esteemed IAC.
Adoptive parents Shaynee and Matt Stevens of San Mateo, California, began the adoption process with IAC in October 1999. After they had completed their application they were contacted by five birth parents including 20-year-old Jennie Jeffers in August 2000. Jennie wanted to speak with the adoptive father, and so had a long conversation with Matt. Afterwards, Jennie chose Shaynee and Matt as the people she wanted to adopt her child. Jennie, who lives in Texas, came to California in October of that year and stayed for four days with the family. The Stevens worked with an agency in Texas, and went to Texas when baby Lindsey was born on December 29. Jennie's family was completely supportive, and gave the Stevens a baby shower on New Year's Eve. Two weeks after Lindsey was adopted, Shaynee conceived and now Lindsey has a little brother.
"IAC counselors were very supportive and helpful," said Shaynee. "It was all very open. We keep in phone contact and email contact with Lindsey's birth mother, Jennie. She sends Lindsey birthday presents and Christmas presents. We are one big family. Having Lindsey's art featured on this year's holiday card is a honor indeed."
