Article in November Issue of LadybugFlights Looks at the Health Implication of Your Vote

(PRWeb) November 18, 2006 -- In her LadybugFlights article, "On the politics of Health: A Commentary", medical correspondent Tina Steele gives a hard-hitting analysis of the impact of the effect of the electoral process on your health care future. In the November 2006 issue she makes a careful analysis of the impact of the policies of the current administration over the past few years, and comes to the frightening conclusion:

"If we do not wrestle control of both chambers of Congress back from the Republicans, most of us will not have even rudimentary, never mind adequate, health care by the end of this decade."

Her numerous examples offer a bleak assessment of the current state of health care for those Americans least able to pay. Cuts in Medicare and Medicaid, problems of Medicare Part D and decreasing workplace benefits are some of the factors that limit access to adequate health care. Travesties like the "Deficit Reduction Act" deprive 3 to 5 million eligible people who have lost their required documentation as well as those whom it was intended to exclude. Other elements of the act also hurt health care for those who need it most.

The situation is also deteriorating with respect to prevention. For example, repressive attitudes toward sex education and sexually transmitted diseases today will create unnecessary problems down the road. The widely touted abstinence programs have proven to be ineffective and dangerous.

In the workplace, Americans are losing health insurance benefits at a rapid rate, and those workers who still have it are paying ever increasing costs. While drug companies are raking in ever increasing profits in the US, prescription drug prices are increasing and people are having to choose between medication and food.

This thought-provoking article will inspire voters to demand the change the facts show is absolutely necessary for the health of our country.
