Renewable Energy Business Network Launches Nationally
Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 3, 2008 -- The Renewable Energy Business Network (REBN) today announced it has formally launched as a national non-profit dedicated to bringing together professionals involved in renewable energy. As part of the launch, REBN has expanded its reach nationally with the formation of ten regional chapters across the U.S. including Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, New York City, Portland and Washington D.C. The announcement was made at a reception at the Clean Technology 2008 conference held this week at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
REBN was initially started several years ago by a group of renewable energy professionals in the San Francisco area and is now co-led by Rob Day of @Ventures and Andrew Friendly of ATV (Advanced Technology Ventures). The organization is comprised of entrepreneurs, investors, academics, government officials and other professionals interested in promoting the growth of the renewable energy industry by fostering relationships, sharing resources and supporting new business creation. Founding national sponsors include Hobbs & Towne, Holland & Knight, Mintz Levin, Silicon Valley Bank, Stanford Group Company, and Weber Shandwick.
"Industry reaction to REBN has been phenomenal," said Andrew Friendly. "The national expansion of the organization reflects the dramatic increase in the number of professionals involved in the renewable and clean energy sector. We are establishing a collaborative culture in which members can informally exchange ideas and form new relationships, ultimately leading to new efforts to address global energy challenges."
REBN chapters are self-organized with local volunteers organizing networking events, educational forums, training sessions and other resources for entrepreneurs and researchers. REBN is also developing web-based resources for members who want to connect across the full network. Membership is free and open to all.
According to Rob Day, "This is just the beginning of a lot of exciting things we're pulling together for REBN members. We're dedicated to helping the development of renewable energy clusters all across the country, supporting existing efforts and welcoming researchers, entrepreneurs and businesspeople into the renewable energy community.
