International Family Magazine Celebrates Youth and Takes A Family Tour Around the World in February, 2008
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 7, 2008 -- February is International Family Magazine's Youth Month for its 2008 editorial calendar. IFMag has spent a lot of time bringing into the family circle all those who have seemed to fallen aside in mainstream family magazines, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and even at times, fathers. But the "other family magazine" did not ever lose sight of the very important role of youth in our families. Youth is a large focus of family life globally. Youth is tomorrow's hope and each country and culture articulates that in a unique way.
International Family Magazine captures that hope succinctly in one of this month's feature stories by Anita Doberman in her article, "Babies are Gifts". Anita Doberman is a newcomer to International Family Magazine but is a syndicated columnist and radio personality best known for her work as a military spouse and mother to five children, both biological and adopted. Anita also shares her unique perspective of being Italian born, and now living and raising her family in America. In her story she admits that her vision of being a large, Italian family might not fit the smaller family model that surrounds her.
February is jam-packed with good reads at International Family Magazine. Tess Almendarez continues to delight her readers with stories of the fictional Mendez family found in Latin Families. Readers share in the experiences of this Mexican-American family as they find victories and challenges in their journey. Everyone can relate to the ups and downs, the heartaches and joys of the Mendez family. Tess touches on such real family subjects as death, jealousy, hope, childlessness, loyalty and greed.
Rea Miranda from South Africa shares the voices of so many families devastated by their youngsters and drugs in the feature story,"Teens, Drug Addiction". Miranda writes testimonials of many families and their experiences with drug-induced crimes, rehabilitation, suicide, addiction, and death. She writes the story to help teens see the other side of the party and the glamour. Addiction is a serious problem in the youth around the world today, and Rea Miranda hopes her story will be the cautionary tale that will keep one youth clean today.
Jessica Long, age 23 shares her part 2 of a series of post-graduate ponderings as she enters the job world after college in Post Grad 2. Jessica took a year after college traveling to Australia and New Zealand and shared the trip in journal entries to her International Family readers. Now she offers her peers and families the insight of what happens when the traveling is over, and the job life begins after college graduation.
February is also the second series in International Family's trip around the world. This month IF Mag stops in India, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. In their travel section, IF Mag brings its readers a very special new contributor, Kent Converse. Kent Converse is a Vietnam Veteran and Rotarian who has traveled back to Vietnam to visit his Rotary daughter, Trang Nguyen, and to help with the Library Project of Vietnam.
International Family Magazine's Lifestyle sections of Food, Art and Décor, Holidays and Traditions are filled with some wonderful cultural treats of Indian recipes, a cultural synopsis of Myanmar, and much more. This Lifestyle section kicked off in late 2007 and is going strong for IF Mag's monthly columns and features. It is the lighter side of IF Mag's offerings and balances out the magazine nicely.
Rounding out the lighter side is always the monthly column of humor found in Judy's House. Judy's House is a creation of Gail Dennison, an accomplished actress, and dramatic teacher who can be seen in many televised commercials and nighttime series such as CSI. Gail Dennison has created the 21st century Erma Bombeck with such brutal wit about motherhood, domestic bliss and home management, that reader's cannot get enough of this special humor section found under "Lifestyle".
