Detroit, MI (PRWEB) February 10, 2008 -- Chicken, Waffles and Smooth Jazz will be on the menu as Guitarist Lawrence Barris with special guest from Cincinnati - Shante warms you on a chilly Detroit night.

Lawrence Barris, a native of the Metro Detroit area began playing and working around the city at a very young age. By age 14 he was putting a smooth jazz groove to pop tunes by Roberta Flack, Marvin Gaye and the Isley Brothers.

He was greatly influenced by Wes Montgomery, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, B.B. King, Earl Klugh, Tower of Power and Stevie Wonder to name a few.

Barris has toured and performed with The Supremes, Ben E. King, The 5th Dimension, George Burns, Joan Rivers, Joe Sample, Richard "Groove' Holmes, Brother Jack McDuff, Dave MacMurry, Little Anthony & the Imperials, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and many others.

This concert is in keeping with our plan to provide inexpensive entertainment along with an excellent meal said Greg Tarver, president of the TCA Travel Club. DeAngelo's Soul Food and Deli is also committed to supporting fine entertainment in the community.

Shante is an inspirational/soul artist from Cincinnati, OH. Her debut project "Shante: Be Like You" is an eclectic mix of jazz, r&B and inspirational music.

Sylvia Simone, of WGPR 107.5 FM, will serve as emcee for the evening.

TCA Travel Club began in 1996 with a few friends and family who were trying to get to Paris, France. The Detroit-based club has evolved into a world-class organization with members across the country.
