Groupe SEB Chairman to be Honored During 2008 International Home + Housewares Show

Chicago, USA (Vocus) January 3, 2008-- Thierry de La Tour d'Artaise, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the France-based Groupe SEB, has been named as this year's Lifetime Humanitarian by the Housewares Charity Foundation in recognition of the numerous programs he has championed through the Groupe SEB Foundation.

The vocation of the Groupe SEB Foundation, funded by a five-year budget of 3 million Euros (US$4.5 million), is to fight against social exclusion by helping people return to employment, improving their living conditions at home and providing access to education and training.

"It is a great honor for us to be recognized for our efforts by the Housewares Charity Foundation," says de La Tour d'Artaise, "We strive to mobilize our company's human and financial resources, in partnership with such organizations as Envie, The Second Chance Foundation, Habitat & Humanisme and No to Waste. Our Foundation's priority is to contribute towards the social integration of the greatest possible number of people."

The Housewares Charity Foundation will honor Thierry de La Tour d'Artaise at its 11th annual Gala held on March 17th at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in conjunction with the International Home + Housewares Show.

The Chicago-area International Housewares Association (IHA) is a founding member of the Housewares Charity Foundation, which consists of a group of dedicated manufacturers, retailers and industry partners who share a collective vision of improving communities and lives around the world through philanthropic giving.

Since 1998, the Housewares Charity Foundation has raised more than US$13 million for various charities. Its Legacy Charity is The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the global non-profit organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and genetic research that promises to help lead to breast cancer prevention and a cure in our lifetime. Not limited by geographic boundaries, the BCRF facilitates research grants to leading scientists worldwide. Proceeds from the Gala Evening in March will also benefit BCRF, further contributing to more than US$5 million already raised for the organization by the Housewares Charity Foundation.

The 11th annual Housewares Charity Foundation Gala Evening will feature a cocktail reception and dinner, auctions and an awards program as well as musical entertainment.
