Manasquan Participates in National Family Volunteer Day: Family Volunteers Unite to Create Care Packs for Foster Care Children

Manasquan, NJ (PRWEB) September 28, 2007 -- On November 17, Manasquan will join hundreds of cities across America in a nationwide celebration of families volunteering together. Blossom International, a non-profit organization, will host its first Family Volunteer Day at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan. This day will be set aside to highlight the volunteer movement that is bringing diverse families together to strengthen their local communities. Volunteers will assemble 400 Care Packs for local children in foster care. The packs will include not only necessities, such as toothpaste and socks, but also items hand made by the children who volunteer at Family Volunteer Day. All area families are encouraged to participate in this event by coming out and spending a few hours helping Blossom International create the Care Packs, which will be distributed by the Division of Youth and Family Services of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. One local family, the Rodriguezes of Manasquan, is anxiously anticipating Family Volunteer Day.

"We've volunteered as a family with Blossom International for almost two years now and the time we get to spend with our kids is invaluable. We like being with each other and working together to help make the community a better place," Michele Rodriguez, Executive Director for Blossom International, said. "I can't think of another activity that makes me closer to my family than showing them how to succeed by helping others. Family volunteering honors what we've known all along: that one family can make a difference."

Joining the Rodriguezes will be approximately 50 families from the community. Governor Jon S. Corzine has similarly expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming event and his appreciation for those willing to donate their time to this wonderful cause in a letter to Blossom International, "It is only through the concern and commitment of individuals such as yourselves that we may hope to build a new and brighter future for all of the residents of the great state of New Jersey."

The sponsoring organization, Blossom International, is run on a 100% volunteer basis. Volunteers are crucial to its mission of implementing programs that increase understanding and kindness. Family Volunteer Day is a unique opportunity for families to blossom into responsible members of their communities. Volunteer slots are still available for this year's Family Volunteer Day.
