A Horse Tale to Warm a Family's Heart -- Author Releases A Canadian Horse Story: The Adventures Of Zephyr

(PRWEB) June 8, 2007 -- Sometimes, a story for children can also be a story for their parents, too. Sometimes, even a short story that would make wonderful bedtime reading for a young child can also make a heartwarming, coffee-break escape for Mom or Dad.

Ginny Dailley-Sealy has written a book like that. It's called A Canadian Horse Story: The Adventures Of Zephyr -- and it's a fictional, charming tale of an eastern Ontario small-town doctor called Dr. Roseh and his relationship with Zephyr, the magical horse who pulls the doctor's sleigh as he makes his medical rounds during the snowy winter months.
Zephyr is the new horse on the sleigh; he's the replacement for the aging, beloved Bess and, at first, Dr. Roseh is a bit worried. Zephyr may be just a bit too small, and maybe not quite strong enough, to get the job done. But over time, Zephyr proves himself and, slowly but surely, inches his way into the doctor's heart.

And then, on that frightening day when his nephew's children fall through the ice, it is Zephyr who comes to the rescue. The little horse with the big heart saves the children -- and then he saves their Dad -- and Zephyr is a hero to everyone.

Author Dailley-Sealy strikes a lovely tone in her handling of Zephyr's story and parents and children alike will enjoy it immensely. But behind the story of Zephyr is another story, one that is rooted in history.

There is, in fact, such a thing as a Canadian horse and the animal played an important role in Canada's early development. Once threatened, the breed is now thriving. Once considered too small, it is now recognized and admired for its appearance, its strength, and its value -- and, in 2002, the Canadian Parliament declared it to be Canada's National Horse.

Dailley-Sealy, very clearly, is an admirer of the breed. And this lovely book, A Canadian Horse Story, is her tribute.
