Stories and Wisdom of Artists over Age 90 Featured on Internet Radio
San Francisco, California (PRWeb) January 8, 2007 -- Will you still be dancing when you're in your 90's? Ann Davlin is! And 107 year old Lily Hearst is playing the piano, Madeline Mason is sculpting at 104, and Grace Gildersleeve is braiding rugs at 94. Amy Gorman, author of "Aging Artfully" and Greg Young, documentary maker of "Still Kicking," present the lives and attitudes of 12 women artists in their 80's, 90's and 100's who are actively practicing their art. Hear them on Full Power Living, (worldtalkradio dot com), Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 9 a.m. PT. During the live broadcast, Gorman and Young will answer listener's questions, toll free, at 866-612-1613.
Dr. Ken Dychtwald says "Engagement is a catalyst for longevity; the women of 'Aging Artfully' superbly illustrate this truth. In touching portraits, Gorman shows the satisfaction and productivity that positive attitudes bring to lives long-lived." Most of us want to live a long, productive and satisfying life. Find out new ways to think and behave as Amy Gorman and Greg Young talk live with Ilene Dillon, M.S.W., creator/host of Full Power Living, on January 18.
Greg Young is a filmmaker who retired in 2002 after 27 years as an award winning design director for the University of California, Berkeley, to pursue his passion for documentary film making. His second documentary, Still Kicking, reflects his interest in character driven stories. Shooting all hand-held digital video allows Young more intimacy with his subjects, and gives him the ability to be less invasive during the shoot.
He enjoys making small canvas documentaries revealing human qualities and big picture perspectives that we develop as we get older. Young (59) lives and edits from his central coast studio in Pacific Grove, California.
Aging Artfully is the synthesis of Amy Gorman's experience working with aging and in the arts. Her work as a young speech therapist at V.A. Hospitals and later as a medical social worker with dementia and Alzheimer's patients led to her service as a board member at Lifelong Medical Care/Over 60 Clinic in Oakland, California, which addresses the medical and social needs of the aged. Amy founded Kidshows in 1982, a nonprofit arts organization, to introduce children to the arts, live theater, music, dance and storytelling. During her 18 years as its Executive Director, the professional performers she worked with shared many concerns about getting older and whether or not they could continue earning a living in their chosen art form.
Full Power Living, aired live weekly, is devoted to "awakening the world to the power and importance of human emotions." Past guests have included Dennis Bakke (Joy at Work), Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. (The Biology of Belief), Randy Rolfe (The Seven Secrets of Successful Parents), and Bruce Cameron (How to Remodel a Man. Ilene Dillon, M.S.W., airs Full Power Living weekly on worldtalkradio dot com/ (Thursdays, 9 a.m. PT). Toll free call-in number is 866-613-1612. All shows are archived on the site for 24/7 listening and podcast. Aging Artfully is featured on Thurs., Jan 18, on worldtalkradio dot com/
